Birthday parties don’t always have to mean bbqs, bounce houses and pool parties. With a little creative thinking and crown control you can host an extravaganza that the neighborhood will be talking about for years.
Little Chefs
Some prep work is all it takes to get the kids into the kitchen to whip a fresh hot pizzas or sweet moist cupcakes. Set each child up with a workstation, apron, utensils and pre-measured ingredients so all they need to do is add. For older children let them do the measuring with new cups and spoons that they can take home to work on culinary skills at their own pace.
Give them a Plate
Paint your own Pottery is growing to be a very popular activity for kids of all ages. Pieces can start at $5 and end all the way up to $25. Adjust the ceramic choices based on how many kids are in attendance and watch their creative juices flow. Many shops offer a side room for snacks, drinks and cake to make it a full celebration.
Dance Party
Kids have some of the best dance moves so why not make a party of it. Just Dance for Wii or XBox Kinect are fun ways to get the kids moving and create an entire experience. Break up kids into teams and work towards goals or scores. Winning teams get bragging rights but everyone goes home with memories and laughter.
Garden Party
Warmer weather birthdays can benefit from get-togethers that serve dual purpose. Have the kids bring gloves, herb or veggie seedlings and the host can supply soil, pots and everything needed to decorate them. Have children embellish terra cotta pots to their own style and plant something to take home. Plants like lavender and mint will go over well for their scent but basil might be right for a budding chef.
GeoCaching for Treasure
If you’ve never heard of it, think of it as modern day treasure hunting. Sign-up for the service that gives you the details of hidden spots in your area, use that information to locate that spot using GPS and see where it takes you. The one rule about geocaching is if you take a treasure, you must leave one for the next hunter. Make this birthday inspired and go ahead of time and leave enough treats for the entire birthday party.
Do you have any unique or creative birthday party ideas?

LOVE these ideas, especially how geocaching adds a new twist to the old scavenger hunt idea. My kids are younger so it may be a while before we use that one, but I love the idea of the chef party and the paint your own pottery. Thanks for the great list!
What brilliant ideas for kids' birthday parties! This is especially wonderful for parents on a budget. I will definitely be trying some of these out at my daughter's future birthday parties!
So fun. These are wonderful ideas. My daughter would love every single one. Thanks for posting.
